Our plans for 2023

– Ben Pedley, General Manager

Last year, when I wrote my thoughts and our plans for 2022, who would have predicted that post COVID life would continue to be so difficult and indeed more difficult, for some people and businesses. Soaring energy and fuel costs have caused some difficulties along the way, but there is so much to look back on and feel proud, and even more to look forward to.

Works are already underway this year. The Farm Shop opened back up on 4th January in its temporary location whilst its former home receives some TLC. A new roof and floor are being fitted ahead of a refresh of the walls and a total rewire of the building. This is a really exciting stage in our project plan, ahead of the butchery eventually down into the Farm Shop building.

Aside from building works we are continuing to improve the site as a whole. We have plans to alter the layout of the carpark and introduce a lot more shrubbery along with an increase to the number of disabled parking spaces and electric vehicle charging points.

In the Nursery, following a successful trial last year, we are scaling up the number of plants grown in peat free compost, with our aim to be peat free growers by 2025 – reducing our negative impact on the environment hugely.

Our Café has also gone from strength to strength. With a fantastic team of chefs and front of house staff, coupled with good home-cooked food it’s easy to see why. Last year saw the launch of ‘Hector’ our outside ordering point and this year we are exploring the possibility of a further expansion to include more outdoor seating closer to the café.

Work on our wildlife walk has progressed really well and we are hoping to expand on it further in 2023. A new entrance to the area along with further planting of wild flowers and improvements to the ponds will bring the wildlife walk closer to being ready for all to enjoy.

This is just a snippet of some of the exciting things to come this year! Hopefully you’re now as excited as we are for 2023!
